Evaluation of Organ Dose and Image Quality Metrics of Pediatric CT Chest-Abdomen-Pelvis (CAP) Examination: An Anthropomorphic Phantom Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact CT acquisition parameter setting on organ dose and its influence image quality metrics in pediatric phantom during examination. was performed 64-slice multidetector scanner (MDCT) Siemens Definition AS (Siemens Sector Healthcare, Forchheim, Germany) using various CAP protocols (P1–P9). Tube potential for P1, P2, P3 were fixed at 100 kVp while P4, P5, P6 80 with used reference noise values. P7, P8, P9 modification P1 changes slice collimation, pitch factor, tube current modulation (TCM), respectively. TLD-100 chips inserted into slab number 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 represent thyroid, lung, liver, stomach, gonads, skin, metrics, signal ratio (SNR) contrast (CNR) values obtained from console. As a result, indicates reduction absorbed up 20% 50% along reducing voltage, current, increasing collimation. There no significant difference (p > 0.05) observed between metrics.

Construction of an Equivalent Chest Homogeneous Phantom for Evaluation of Image Quality in Pediatric Radiography

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to build homogeneous equivalent phantom chest in order to provide the necessary ability for checking the image quality in radiographic tests in four age groups of children in terms of the most recent age group categorization ICRP103. This phantom provides the features of weakness and discrepancies similar to body and can be consi...

Evaluation of Absorbed Dose of Critical Organ in Rando Phantom under Head, Abdomen and Pelvis Spiral CT Scan by Thermo Luminescent Dosimetery - TLD

Background & Objectives: Computed tomography (CT) represents 11% of all diagnostic radiology procedures but it contributes to almost 67% of the total effective dose to the human population. In head and neck CT which consist of 1/3 of total CT scans, other critical organs such as lenses and thyroid are in the radiation field. Also in the abdomen and pelvis scan, irradiation of ovaries is unavoid...

Quantitative Image Quality Comparison of Reduced- and Standard-Dose Dual-Energy Multiphase Chest, Abdomen, and Pelvis CT

We present a new image quality assessment method for determining whether reducing radiation dose impairs the image quality of computed tomography (CT) in qualitative and quantitative clinical analyses tasks. In this Institutional Review Board-exempt study, we conducted a review of 50 patients (male, 22; female, 28) who underwent reduced-dose CT scanning on the first follow-up after standard-dos...

Measurement of organ dose in chest CT examination using Monte Carlo simulation

Background: Exposure conditions in CT examinations are quite different from conventional Xray. In CT examination higher dose is given to patient in comparison with the dose in other diagnostic examinations. In order to calculate organ effective dose in chest CT, Monte Carlo simulation has been used in this study. Materials and Methods: The Impact survey data were used to determine the ...
